Excitement is almost as fever pitch today, as the hotly-anticipated Samsung S10 will be released later today at the Samsung Unpacked event.

Despite the many leaks over the past few weeks, essentially confirming the phones specs and style designs, there has been one leak which has particularly engaged the cryptocurrency community. This being that the new generation of Galaxy phones will have a new cryptocurrency wallet providing support for Bitcoin and Ethereum.

For such an essential product in the entire technological calendar year to introduce such a new feature supporting cryptocurrencies is tremendously positive for the nascent industry.

The release adds to the expectation that this new feature will lead to an adoption boom for cryptocurrencies and hopefully much more.

Rumors started swirling initially following a leaked image which showed a screenshot of the S10’s crypto wallet interface- named Blockchain Keystore.

The upcoming release follows hot on the heels of Google’s new iOS feature which allows the Bitcoin symbol to be supported using the Gboard app.

These incremental steps could prove to be a giant step towards overall mainstream adoption for cryptocurrencies and allowing the industry a platform to develop further and gain tremendous momentum.

Crypto expert Joseph Young recently tweeted:

“Humble opinion: if Samsung integrates crypto to Galaxy S10, I think it may have a bigger impact than ETF and Bakkt combined. Partially because no one knows what kind of exposure ETF / Bakkt will bring meanwhile millions of people use Samsung phones daily.”

Even though this feature was leaked a few weeks before the official release-with just about every other feature admittedly, the hype and anticipation for seeing such an iconic product and brand supporting cryptocurrencies in any form, has hugely excited the cryptocurrency community.

What otherwise might’ve been just another mobile release has taken on added significance due to the expected wallet feature.

Before today’s S10 release, HTC, another smartphone giant, rolled out the first Blockchain smartphone, called Exodus.
