A date has been set: the Galaxy S10 will be unveiled on 20th February 2019.

One of the most anticipated smartphones of 2019 is the Samsung Galaxy S10. Marking the Galaxy line’s 10th anniversary, the Samsung Galaxy S10 is set to be released in three variants, the S10, the S10+, and the S10 Lite, according to chatter across various technology websites.

Images from various renders, leaks and alleged sightings of the Samsung Galaxy S10 variants indicate a phone with an infinity-O display as seen in the Samsung Galaxy A8s variant. However, the punch hole is featured on the top left side of the phone. The leaked images show how Samsung have extended their screen thus making the S10 variant near-bezel-less. It is going to feature top-level specs as expected on a flagship smartphone variant in 2019.

Images from the S10 also confirm what had been speculated by various sources, that Samsung was going to release its blockchain wallet during its S10 release. The leaked images featured ‘Blockchain KeyStore’ on the screen. This is exciting news for blockchain enthusiasts and cryptocurrency users. It shows that blockchain is making great strides, penetrating the mainstream market. Samsung is one of the biggest smartphone companies in the world, and the introduction of the blockchain keystore on its flagship product is an excellent indication of a positive future for blockchain.

The entrance of Samsung into the blockchain smartphone arena is likely to cause problems for HTC’s Exodus which was underwhelming. It never really generated a buzz in the blockchain scene as HTC had hoped. The Exodus failed to satisfy its target market. Samsung will, however, have the appeal of its brand, and it may likely introduce more people into the world of cryptocurrency trading and blockchain technology.

There is likely more to be offered by Samsung on the blockchain front. According to Bitcoinist, Samsung filed for trademark applications in the European Union for Blockchain Keystore, Blockchain Core and Blockchain Key Box. We are not sure what this means yet, but we will have to wait and see at the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S10 on 20th February 2019 several days ahead of the MWC tradeshow.
