Following the news that the new Samsung S10 mobiles phones will officially have a cryptocurrency wallet installed has set the industry abuzz about such an industry titan now confirming its pivot into the nascent industry.

The opportunity to be able to transact via the world’s largest smartphone maker easily has everyone pulling their hairs out to find the latest big news about the feature.

Over the last couple days, it’s been rumored that South Korean cryptocurrency wallet developer Enjin, will be the project that integrates their platform into the S10‘s official wallets. The mere rumors have been enough to send Enjin’s token price into a frenzy, gaining almost 200% in two days.

Samsung has stated that the pre-installed wallet will serve as a cold wallet for users and doesn’t require an internet connection to store digital assets.

Samsung has stated:

“Galaxy s10 is built with defense-grade Samsung Knox, as well as secure storage backed by hardware, which houses your private keys for blockchain-enabled mobile services.”

However, despite this announcement, Samsung has not definitively stated exactly what cryptocurrencies would be supported by their wallet. According to a recent report, six significant cryptocurrencies have been rumored to be chosen by Samsung for support. These include:

  • Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH): The two major and flagpole cryptocurrencies so would naturally be supported by the S10 wallets. They would also be the most obvious choices for any crypto-related payment methods.
  • Enjin (ENJ): Speculated to the official wallet provider of the S10 phones and the Enjin logo seemed to appear on pictures released during Samsung’s Barcelona Mobile Summit.
  • Basic Attention Token (BAT): Asia Crypto Today provided a leaked image of the BAT logo visible in the wallet of the Samsung Blockchain Keystore. Naturally, this has resulted in rumors of a potential collaboration between BAT and Samsung.
  • ICON (ICX): Also based in South Korea, ICON is rumored to collaborate with Samsung for Digital ID. ICON had previously mentioned their CHAIN ID system being the most digital identification system, so it seems maybe Samsung is deciding to use it.
  • Cosmo Chain (COSM): The Cosmo Chin d’App ‘Cosmee’ also appeared in the presentation. While no concrete details have been confirmed, one would assume a tie-up is imminent. Cosmo Chain focuses on connecting customers and companies through a mutually beneficial beauty ecosystem.
